Surrounded by tropical rain forest, this East Hawaii vacation rental is quiet and peaceful but yet only 25 minutes drive from the Hilo International airport.

The cottage itself is a charming log cabin style structure constructed of natural cedar. Its warm and tranquil ambience is an altogether great place to relax, unwind and reflect after a full day of touring around the island!!

Newly renovated and elegantly furnished with tropical bamboo furniture, Hale 'Io has all the comforts of home - Hawaiian-style. Each of the two bedrooms has a massive king-sized bed. The kitchen is fully equipped to allow preparation the most elaborate meals for your entire party. There are two screened-in sunrooms, one of which can serve as additional sleeping quarters for the kids if necessary. Other amenities include free broadband wireless internet, satellite tv, washer and dryer and loads of pure, delicious tranquility.

Ten minutes away from the quaint town of Pahoa - where you can find an olympic-sized swimming pool, a post office, cafes, a grocery store, a health food store, a weekly farmer's market and diverse dining possibilities including Thai, Mexican and Italian restaurants.

Tidal pools with great snorkeling, Lava Tree State Park, Kehena Beach and the spectacular, oceanside geo-thermally heated "Millionaire's Pond" are just a few of the nearby attractions in the Puna area. In Hilo, just 30 minutes away by car, you'll find waterfalls, Richardson's Beach, botanical gardens and a bi-weekly farmer's market. Volcanoes National Park is a pleasant half-hour drive from Hilo.

We also offer a cute little ohana studio located behind the main house. This hidden gem has been renovated with attention to detail, deliberately designed to take in the unique natural surroundings while not compromising on comfort.

Floor to ceiling plate glass sliding doors open right into the beautiful rain forest with its rare type of Ohia trees (with yellow lehua), red ginger flowers, Big Island hapu'u ferns, tropical fruiting trees and a very tranquil atmosphere. It has its own bathroom, kitchenette with fridge and satellite TV. Suits a single person perfectly, but could also accommodate a couple.
